Mother’s Day was filled with the smells of Goodwood Bar b Que, wet dogs, wet kids and chlorine, flowers, and the sweet fraquence of our church family worship. My emotional tank got a good filling. I believe in the church, flawed as sometimes it may seem (because I am in the church). It is God’s desire to see us, the church, come together regularly. At the end of the day Ted and I said to each other,
“It’s been a good day.”
We are living in a blessed time. All of our immediate family lives close by. We see the family often and it is so good! As we finished lunch our kids presented us with this family picture. As we looked at it we had to laugh. Who, where, how did this all happen. It’s a blur. This picture is only four months old and big changes are coming. Lindsay is marrying Jonathan, August 5th and Christin is due with her fourth child, Tuesday, May 16th . She will be mom to six. Good Job, Christin!!
Our new total is 24 with one who went ahead to see the face of Jesus. Grand total is 25. I looked up the number 25 and found the following.
I receive that. Every member of our family has been a gift of grace.
Deuteronomy 7:8,9 - 8 But it was because the Lord loved you and kept the oath he swore to your ancestors that he brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the land of slavery, from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt. 9 Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.
I want to walk in obedience. I just read that our faithful God will keep his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments. I want God’s love to follow a thousand generations of our family. More than anything I want each individual and generation in our family to experience the covenant of God’s love.
If I get tired, insecure, lazy, disobedient or sad – I will take off the old pair of shoes and ‘buy me’ a new pair of New Balance shoes and walk in strength, industry, obedience and joy. You will find me continuing on my walk of faith that will lead our generations.
The Cityhope Schools program is Friday night, May 19th. As I teach we can hear all of the classes practice for the performance. I hear the little preschool sing this song, You are so Faithful’, and as I am in class I have to work hard to keep tears from flowing. It says why I have chosen a walk of faith. God is always faithful.
