Beautiful Savior - Door of Hope

Our Beautiful Savior opens a new door for us as His children.  He actually calls it a door of Hope! And then He gives us a Fresh Start!

What I want to write about today is out of an incredible book of the Bible depicting what people today would call a totally backwards love story.  We live in a world today awash with love stories, and to so many a distorted picture of love. The story I tell you today is from the book of Hosea where he is a prophet of love.  It's not love as we imagine or fantasize it.  His life as a prophet was a parable of God's love for us, a living parable.

It's an astonishing story.  God commanded Hosea to marry a common whore and have children with her.  It's  an even more astonishing message that God loves us in just this way. He goes after us at our worst, keeps after us until He gets us, and makes lovers of men and women who know nothing about real love.

The story begins when God told Hosea to find a whore and marry her and make this woman the mother of your children.  So Hosea picked beautiful Gomer to be his wife and they married and had a son.

Hosea fell in love with Gomer, but God said, "Name your son, Jezreel,  because I am calling it quits on Israel."  Gomer got pregnant again and this time she had a daughter.  God told Hosea, "Name this one "No -Mercy" because I'm fed up with people.  I've run out of mercy.  There's no more forgiveness."

After Gomer weaned No Mercy, she had another son and God said, "Name him "Nobody!  You have become Nobodies to me!" This is where it starts getting good!  God decided that Nobody will now be named "Somebody, God's Somebody, and then He said, No Mercy will be renamed "All Mercy.

But then Gomer went back to her old ways, and Hosea wept over the wife that had forsaken
him, just like God weeps over all of us when we turn away. But God told Hosea, "I want you to start all over again as a picture of the fresh start I give my people!  He told Hosea, "Take her out to the park where you had your first date and court her."

"Give her bouquets of roses. Speak tenderly to her. I will restore her as if she never sinned.  I'll turn Heartbreak Valley into acres of Hope.  I will make this place a DOOR OF HOPE!  She will sing praise as in the day of her youth when you first met!"

God ordered Hosea to start all over again!  It's a Fresh Start.  "Remarry her for good and forever.  Tell her, "I'll marry you true and proper, in love and tenderness.  I will never leave you nor let you go!"

Our papa God is the author of a Fresh Start and a Door of Hope!  2 Samuel 22:21 says;

God made my life complete when I placed all the pieces before Him. When I cleaned up my act, He gave me a Fresh Start, a Door of Hope indeed. I’ve kept alert to God’s ways,. I haven’t taken God for granted.  Every day I review the way He works.  I try not to miss a trick.  I feel put back together, and I’m watching my step.  God rewrote the text of my life when I opened the book of my heart to His eyes.
— 2 Samuel 22:21 (MSG)

Everyone reading this can experience a Fresh Start daily and open the Door of Hope!  In fact we need too! I love this Fresh Start Door Of Hope verse in the Message Bible.

John the Baptist, The God revealer in many ways was preparing the nation of Israel for their fresh start.  The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and yelled and "Here He is, God's Passover lamb! He forgives the sins of the world!  This is the man I've talked about.  The One who comes after me, but is really ahead of me.

I know nothing about who he was, only this ,that  my task has been to get Israel ready.  I want them to recognize Him as the God revealer.  That is why I came baptizing with water, giving you a good bath and scrubbing sins from your life so you can get a FRESH start with God!

2 Corinthians 5:16 includes this verse that when we are united with Christ we get a fresh start and we open the door of hope. Someone else called it a door of opportunity.  The old life is gone and a new life blossoms!

If you are reading this and don't know Him yet, it is so easy to find Him.  Just call His name and you are immediately ushered  through the door of Hope to a fresh new beginning.  A brand new creation.

I’ll call nobodies and make them somebodies. I’ll call the unloved and make them beloved. In the place where they yelled out, “ You’re nobody”! They’re calling you, “God’s living children.”
