"The people of Israel are oppressed, and the people of Judah as well. All their captors hold them fast, refusing to let them go. Yet their Redeemer is strong; the Lord Almighty is His name. He will vigorously defend their cause so that He may bring rest to their land" Jer. 50:33, 34 Today's reading is all about what the Almighty is going to do to Babylon for messin' with His "kids". God's passion for His people is Kuh-Ray-Zee (crazy). It's the intensity we see when something gets in between a momma bear and her cub, a father and his daughter, a man and his burger, pastor Ryan and his coffee...whenever something interferes we know that something and someone is about to go down. This is the passion of our Father who will never fail us and who will always come through. He is our strong Redeemer!
We read in Jer. 51:15,16 what a Mighty God we serve. “He made the earth by His power; He founded the world by His wisdom and stretched out the heavens by His understanding. When He thunders, the waters in the heavens roar; He makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth. He sends lightning with the rain and brings out the wind from His storehouses."
Some may not be impressed, but it shatters all limitation in my heart as to what God is able and capable to accomplish in and through our lives.
Israel parallels the 12 year old girl in Luke 8:46-53. She's sick and dying in her upstairs room. She didn't ask for healing, she didn't go up to Jesus and ask him for help. She stayed on her sick bed, destined for death, hopeless and without any chance of survival. Regardless of the circumstances, her father vigorously defends her cause as he runs to Jesus pleading for Him to break the chains of injustice and destroy death's assignment on his daughter's life. She didn't deserve it but she was rescued. Even though she didn't ask for it, her father did ask and because of Jesus' great compassion she was made whole!
This is a two-part word for the church to begin to intercede for family, friends and the nations. That they would "step in the gap", as the girl's father did, for Jesus to "break" into the rooms of the "sick and dying" as their Strong Redeemer, their Ultimate Defender and their only Hope and Life.
Hebrews 7:25 say "Therefore [JESUS] is able to save completely and forever those who come to God through Him, because He lives to intercede for them.
This is what He does and desires to be in our everyday lives. His grace isn't limited to the moment we die. He has come to save us COMPLETELY and FOREVER, today! He LIVES to intercede for us!!! AMEN!
The second part of this word is that He is not finished saving us nor will we ever reach a place where His saving power is no longer needed in our everyday lives. Though the enemy may still have a grip on us, Jesus is our Strong Redeemer, our ever-present help in trouble, our Lord Almighty who is vigorously defending our cause, desiring and able to save us completely! No longer do we say these temptations/strongholds are too hard, these circumstances are too big, the door to freedom is open to some but not to us. Today I claim His power over my live and yours. The power that is Mighty to Save and able to cure any sickness and break every chain! In the Name of Jesus! May all the glory, the power and honor be His forever! Our Lord Almighty is enough! Amen
