Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey...He will proclaim peace to the nations. His rule will extend from sea to sea and from the River to the ends of the earth. As for you, because of the blood of my covenant with you, I will free your prisoners from the waterless pit. Return to your fortress, you prisoners of hope; even now I announce that I will restore twice as much to you. Zech. 9:9-12 If there are two words that must be spoken to the world today, they are "EVEN NOW." Those words are drenched in hope. They are words that need no further explanation. They are penetrating the darkest places, the coldest hearts with the REALITY that Jesus' saving, cleansing power is still within reach.
Today's passages are full of amazing prophesies about Jesus, the coming Messiah. The days of mankind trying to come to God out of his own purity and righteousness are coming to an end as God is sending His righteous and victories Son to mankind, even now. He's not coming with the appearance of an earthly king. He's coming in riding in on a donkey and yet with ever step the tallest kingdoms will bow down, the most noble of kings will lay down their crowns unto Him.
God's love for a people who have rejected Him age after age, is unfathomable. Not only does He still love them, but He's sending His Son to set them free from the chains their hands have chosen, offering His Son's life so that this world may obtain life. EVEN NOW, it's like the football game you thought was over and then somehow the team comes back and is given a shot in Over Time.
There is still time for you, there is still time for your family, for this world. Don't give up on them. EVEN NOW, the Lord says that He has come to proclaim peace and set the captives free. Pray that He will invade homes and hearts today. He may come in riding on a donkey, in unexpected ways at unpredictable times or He may just choose to reveal Himself and His love through you.
Dear Jesus, invade our hearts and this world with Your love, Amen!
