Grace In The Book Of Numbers

Daily Bible CoverAs I'm reading the book of Numbers, I'm wondering what will I find to inspire me and readers of these blogs. First of all I read how orderly our Papa God is.  He assigns a place for each of the twelve tribes by their name and ancestry.  He also counted all men of military age, 20 years and older.  God never said the land would simply be handed over to the Israelites without a struggle.  But God promised to be with them and make them victorious as long as they keep their faith in Him, the ONE TRUE GOD!

God spoke to Moses and told him about the many things that could make a person ceremonially unclean and how they had to be isolated.  This brings about a picture of God's grace in the Old Testament time.

God spoke to Moses to have the Israelites celebrate the Passover on the fourteenth of the month in accordance with all it's rules and regulations.  The Israelites did everything just as the Lord commanded Moses.

But some of them could not celebrate the Passover that day because they were ceremonially unclean on account of a dead body.  So they came to Moses that same day and told him.  "Why should we be left out of the celebration?"

Moses said wait until I find out what the Lord says.  And God said they would not be left out, but just celebrate on the fourteenth day of the second month at twilight.

God did not want any of His people to miss out on the blessing.  But now in this day age, my Bible commentary says this about the ceremonially unclean and isolated. "Ritual purity was an outward sign of inward reality.

The central issue restrictions was not desease making a person unclean, it was the fact of God's presence in the camp.  Jesus changed all that!    He reached out particularly to those excluded by these restrictions.

He healed and brought back into the community those with skin conditions including leprosy , bleeding conditions, and He even touched the dead.  By His healing touch all unclean were made clean.

It is so precious to know that because of Jesus, we are temples that house his presence all the time, and we have the incredible power to touch people and see His healing flow, chains broken and sin erased.

What a day we live in and what a contrast between then and now.  It's glorious to be alive in this day and partner with Christ to bring healing and freedom to our world.

Let's Go For It!

Bless you all.
