It's all about PLACEMENT and AVAILABILITY. God's strategy is purposeful. He is the ultimate planner! He's not worried about coming up with a 5 year, a 50 year or 5,000 year plan...He's got a plan for all of eternity! He is faithful to complete what He starts with those who are willing. The Kingdom of God cannot fail and those that are born into His Kingdom cannot fail. I was a little amazed at God's placement with Shadrach, Abendego and Meshach (who from this moment on I will refer to as S.A.M.). They were Jews who were taken captive to Babylon. By God's favor, they were hand-picked to serve the king. We see in chapter one how Daniel and S.A.M. were forced to learn the language and literature of the Babylonians and yet they resolved not to defile themselves with the king's food. This was the first time we see them take a stand. Later Daniel interprets the king's dream in Chapter 2 and requests that Sam moves up in ranks and again they are promoted by the favor of God. And that's how S.A.M. got here and if we take a step back we will see that nothing is wasted and God can use anybody in any moment to bring glory to Himself, if only they are willing and embrace the seasons He places them in. It's all about PLACEMENT and AVAILABILITY.
In chapter 3, Nebby build's a ginormous image of gold and calls "the satraps, the administrators, the governors, the counselors, the treasurers, the judges, the magistrates, and all the officials of the provinces to come to the dedication of the image which King Nebuchadnezzar had set up". Daniel 3:2
[STOP] Think about this... This was not all of Babylon. This wasn't all the people who were captured from Jerusalem. This was a "high honor" to be present for this dedication. Had it not been for the timing and placement of God, S.A.M. would've never been given this huge opportunity to show everyone the One that is above all others.
God is looking for people who are willing to SHINE in whatever room He places them, the darker the better.
I believe chapter 1 of Daniel was the doorway to chapter 3. If S.A.M. refused to take a stand in eating defiled food, I think they would've cracked under the pressure in Chapter 3. S.A.M.'s placement was directly tied to their willingness to be used. If God knows you are willing He will call you wherever He wants and enable you to do whatever He's called you to do. The question is will we eat whatever He places in front of us...even if it's green eggs and ham. (Dr. Suess, "Green Eggs and Ham" reference)
Three things I feel the Spirit is calling us to do today is to: [EMBRACE our PLACEMENT] [SHINE don't WHINE] & [Reveal the FATHER in our FIRE]
We must Embrace our Placement. When we've given God the reins of our lives, nothing is wasted. He makes beauty from the ashes and can bring a flower out of the dust. He makes all things work together for the good of those who love Him and who are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28) If we don't embrace the season were in, we will miss out on the opportunities to shine.
We are not called to Whine, we were called to Shine. As soon as we embrace the place God has us in today, it will be natural for us to Shine and declare the glory of God in every area of our lives. It's easy to Whine, it's easy to complain and start to blame everything in our sight for the way things are, but the people of God can turn their furnace into an opportunity to reveal the glory of their Father.
God didn't think up the furnace. He didn't create it or design it. The tool the enemy designed to take out the Lord's anointed become a weapon of power in their hands. It was an opportunity to show everyone who their God was, who was with them and how Great and Glorious He truly is. The thing that first caught the eye of the king was that there was a fourth person in the fire. When we go through trials we must focus on the one who is with us and after it's over He must be the one who is given glory. The Father must be seen in our Fire. We may come out un-singed, without even the smell of smoke and people's natural response might be to praise us but we must always point them to the one who was with us and truly saved us.
God we thank you for where you have placed us today. You are our God, we will bow our knees to nothing else. Open our eyes to see the rooms you've called us to shine in today and may you be seen, may you be exalted and glorified in every area of our lives! Amen
