My Banner Still Waves!

Daily Bible CoverHmmm the 3rd of July for a pyro kid is like the wrapping on a present, the peel around the orange that always gets in your finger nails, the 30 minutes of previews before your movie starts, Its the pit in the peach, the celery that your peanut butter is on... the 3rd is often overlooked, undesired, annoying and lives in the shadow of his brother July IV...but TODAY is a day of VICTORY! A day of HOPE! A day of PURPOSE! A day to light something up and watch it EXPLODE with a smile! PTL I believe one answer for a lot of life’s problems is perspective. One person sees the basement flooding as a Problem another sees it as an indoor Pool...one person freaks out during a Power outage while another decides to Play marco polo...one person sees these past days as painfully hot while another says it’s chiller than a cold day in hell...(...Central Assembly, the Lord and Nate Devore accept no liability for the content of that above statement, contents displayed come from some unknown sources that do not in any way reflect the views and beliefs of the parties listed...)

Perspective changes your Problem into a Pool, your Outage into an Opportunity, your Terrible heat into Thankfulness....

In Isaiah 13, Isaiah is prophesying of the coming day when Babylon would fall by the army that the Lord was awakening. In chapter 14, God gives His people a “song” to sing after it falls. This prophetic hymn is, in it’s original intent directed to the king of Babylon but also contains paralleled reference to Satan himself as the morning star that was cast down to the earth from heaven after he tried to exalt himself above the Most High. We see this word in it’s original context but I also believe that TODAY the Lord is awakening His army and its all about our BANNER.

We actually see a parallel with today's reading and a stormy night in 1814 while Francis Scott Key watched the bombardment of the “rocket’s red glare” and the “bombs bursting in air” over Fort McHenry. Not knowing how the battle was going or if there was any report of victory, the only thing that gave him hope was that the flag, his banner was still waving. The night hindered his view of the “storm flag” but when he woke up at “dawns early light” he saw that the storm flag had been replaced by a larger flag showing the victory that had gone on in the night. And so a SONG was given after the victory that took place! PTL (praise the Lord)

Who knew we would get a paralleled message around the forth of July, but I believe that our hope and our song rests in that our flag, our banner is still waving and it will always be waving victoriously!

In that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples; the nations will rally to him, and his resting place will be glorious. Isaiah 11:10

He will raise a banner for the nations and gather the exiles of Israel; he will assemble the scattered people of Judah from the four quarters of the earth. Isaiah 11:12

Raise a banner on a bare hilltop, shout to them...listen, a noise on the mountains like that of a great multitude ! Listen, an uproar among the kingdoms, like nations massing together! The Lord Almighty is mustering an army for war. Isaiah 13:2,4

When I am lifted up from the earth, [as a banner] I will draw all people to myself.” John 12:32

Does our BANNER still wave?

God’s people are not fighting for victory, they are fighting from victory. While in the wilderness every tribe had their own banner to mark who they were. The banner also symbolizes a standard for the people. It gives hope, it gives strength, it gives purpose, it gives the call to continue on, it gives a call to unite and arise as an army. Our banner will never fall. Our banner, Jesus, is our hope. He was lifted up, He has marked us with his victorious blood, He has given His people a song to sing. A song of freedom and hope. A song that sings on in the night. That even if we are in our bunker resting, the battle is the Lords and He fights on behalf of those who are is.

Thank you Lord that your banner waves over us today! Sing over your people and may we experience the glory of your goodness as we, as your resting place, become glorious as you are. Awaken us today by your spirit and may your people live victorious! Amen!
