Follow the Leader

Follow the Leader

In the Bible, we see people do what they think they should without considering God’s take on the issue. So many do as they see fit, what they “feel” is right.

We see God in the Scripture seeking to draw us away from the error of simply doing as we see fit. It’s easy to become casual about God and not take Him seriously. All the time there is the pull to simply do as we see fit. Our culture would have the effect of diluting our faith if we become passive about what we believe.

Called

Called

We were so blessed and excited to have Pastor Steve McGowen with us today from Thailand. He encouraged us that no matter how dark it may seem God is always working. And that God has called us to continue the the mission, to continue the work as co laborers with Christ. We will see the kingdom grow when we build people. When we focus on the people in the market and sphere we live in and ask God to bring people to us we pray for them, and we speak truth and hope into their lives. The gospel is simple and we have an exciting life we have been called to live.

Living Well Part 2

Living Well Part 2

So often we are chasing the “what” of life. What is it that we want, what is it that we want to see happen in our lives; at work, at home, in our social circle. But too often that question revolves around one figure, US. We are experts at putting ourselves in the middle of the story.

In his continuation of last weeks message where Pastor Ryan laid the foundation of the Why, he reframes what the “what” should be for us as believers. There are no two greater questions that we should ask ourselves and have solid footing on their answers as believers.

Living Well Part 1

Living Well Part 1

Pastor Ted said a couple of weeks ago that Conversations are construction sites and our words are the building materials. This is true for any human that has ever lived but it is especially important as followers of Christ.

If we claim to have faith in Christ, what should that mean for the way that we live our lives. To have “Faith” is to live as God intends us to live. This morning we unpacked what this word “Faith” means and implies and allowed the story of Philip and the Ethiopian to shed some light on it.

Watch Your Mouth Pt 3

Watch Your Mouth Pt 3

Have you ever thought about your conversations being construction sites? If they are, then the words we use in those conversations become the building materials. What is it that you are building with the materials that you are using? Is it building a structure that will stand the test of time? Will it survive the earthquakes, floods and fires fo life? This is such a crucial part of our life. the ability to communicate but not just to communicate randomly. We have to be able to communicate in ways that build.

Watch Your Mouth Pt 2

Watch Your Mouth Pt 2

The second in a series of messages about the power of our tongue and the words that we use. Each word is a gift and should be given as such. Especially when it comes to forgiveness. Forgiveness is giving someone from the past something they don’t deserve so you can give to those around you what they do deserve.

Celebrate Life Sunday

We acknowledged the miracle of Chramy Sangslands Life, we heard form a representative of Stanton Health care, heard from Vice President Mike Pence and so much more. It was an inspiring morning of celebration of Life at any level and stage. You will be encouraged and inspired this morning.

To end 2018 we had Pastor and Missionary Sue Carpenter with us one more time. She shared with us the amazing things that have been happening in India and the power of hope in the lives of people. This message is one that you will find yourself laughing at times and being challenged and inspired as we head into the unknown of a new year. And even though it is an unknown to us we know that it is not unknown to God.

This annual service is a tradition that is so special for so many. A Thrill of Hope

With Pastor Ted still without his voice, he and Linda give a powerful message this morning on the power of gift giving by reminding us of the the gifts we have been given. This service was a party. At the end of the service every person in attendance received a wrapped gift for themselves to take home and a gift to give to someone else this next week as a gift from the church.

Today we were so honored to have The Taylors with us. Jay and Cheryl Taylor were once on staff here at CityHope when they were Youth Pastors many many years ago. God has lead them on an amazing journey that has now taken them to Africa as first time missionaries and they are in their 50’s to teach and deploy church planters for the continent of Africa.
