Changing Times

Changing Times

We are called to be a city on a hill not a city behind a hill. In many ways things haver changed regarding the culture and it can be hard to stand firm and shine bright in a world that is looking to put the light out. Throughout history God has chosen people to stand and to represent the truth and the light to a dark and lost world.

Our time is no different. The gospel is the most positive thing to have touched this planet. If we believe that, it should compel us, and drive us to show the love of the gospel.

Nothing But The Best

Nothing But The Best

What Does God want of you? Do you know? Is it a dominate element in your life? In the Old Testament we get an idea of what God wanted for his chosen people. He very carefully laid out what He wanted, what He expected of people who would be called Children of God.

God has never changed in the sense that He has some powerful expectations for people who have been born again. Our texts today will lead you and I to what He expects of us.

The Great Cover Up

In the book of Genesis we see an account of Noah that can be a teacher to any of us.  Noah became drunk and was lying in his tent naked.  One of his sons looked into the tent and took advantage of the situation.  The other two covered their father’s offense.

In the book of Obadiah chapter one, we are told that when it comes to how we are to respond to the misfortune of others, “Do not speak arrogantly [jeering and maliciously mocking] in the day of their distress…do not look [with delight] on their misery in the day of their ruin.

In this message, you will find from both the Old and New Testament, what God expects from all of us when our brother or sister, or even our enemy finds themselves ,,,in the day of their ruin.

I Was Blind But Now I See!

In the book of John, we read about a man who had been blind from his birth.  Jesus healed him.  When the man was questioned by the religious people of that time, as to how he could now see, He responded by saying, I was blind, now I can see.

He didn’t understand everything about what God had done for him or what he had in store for him.  He didn’t have to understand everything, how Jesus healed his eyesight, why he didn’t heal a blind beggar just a short way down the road.  His response to the miracle was to accept it whether he understood it or not.  He didn’t have to understand everything in order to believe something.

As we look at this passage together, let that truth be in your heart as Jesus does what he wants in each of us.

Watch Your Mouth Pt 3

Watch Your Mouth Pt 3

Have you ever thought about your conversations being construction sites? If they are, then the words we use in those conversations become the building materials. What is it that you are building with the materials that you are using? Is it building a structure that will stand the test of time? Will it survive the earthquakes, floods and fires fo life? This is such a crucial part of our life. the ability to communicate but not just to communicate randomly. We have to be able to communicate in ways that build.

Watch Your Mouth Pt 2

Watch Your Mouth Pt 2

The second in a series of messages about the power of our tongue and the words that we use. Each word is a gift and should be given as such. Especially when it comes to forgiveness. Forgiveness is giving someone from the past something they don’t deserve so you can give to those around you what they do deserve.

The Most Important Thing About You

The Most Important Thing About You

Have you ever wondered what the most important thing about you is? What is interesting is that it is the exact same thing for everyone who has ever lived. Pastor Ted Unpacks the power of this most important thing about us and challenges us to go into 2019 with this powerful message of truth at the heart of all we do.

A Thrill of Hope

A Thrill of Hope

This annual service is a tradition that is so special for so many. This morning we celebrated the hope that we have in Christ as we heard from students that attend our school, CityHope Schools, sang Christmas carols, prayed with one another as we look to a new year, and finished the service by sharing Communion with one another as a church family.

A Thrill of Hope

A Thrill of Hope

With Pastor Ted still without his voice, he and Linda give a powerful message this morning on the power of gift giving by reminding us of the the gifts we have been given. This service was a party. At the end of the service every person in attendance received a wrapped gift for themselves to take home and a gift to give to someone else this next week as a gift from the church.

MIRACLELAND

MIRACLELAND

Pastor Ted inspires us this morning to begin living in Miracleland again. He walked us through all the times that God has done the miraculous in his own life and the lives of his family. Recounting events like the time he came around a bend in thr road with his family and there were cows five deep covering the whole road. They didn’t have time to do anything but call out on the name of Jesus and they were on the other side of them with the cows in the rearview mirror.
