In Colossians 3, Paul details things that were a part of our Pre-Jesus life. He includes sexual deviance, anger, rage, malice, obscene language and lying. In contrast to all of that, he tells us that we are to be living a brand new life that is continually learning more and more of what is right. Like a snake sheds its skin,
God wants us to know and not be surprised at difficulties that come into our lives. He describes those temptations, distractions, and disappointments as being normal. He goes on to say that He knows our limits, how much we can handle and when these things go beyond our limits, He will always provide an escape hatch. He set's us up to experience victories.
Any parent can tell you, "Don't treat my kids badly." It just so happens that God notices when we treat His kids, His creation badly. That is why we talked about where you and I are to show concern. Because in your lives, your concern it's not to be focused on you, instead the focus is to be on the you beside you.
