This summer we plan to spend time each week going to the library and encouraging students to continue reading this summer. We are passionate about education and life long learning and know that one of the most foundational blocks for learning is the ability to read. We also know that, summer break can mean a regression in reading skills, for many students, meaning they are playing catch up at the beginning of the next school year.
SO with that in mind we have made sure that reading is a focal point in our Summer Adventures program. That way students will be able to launch into the next school year ready to go further than they have ever been. Plus, Reading is one of the most adventurous things you can doe. Reading takes you places you have never been, teaches you things you never knew and ultimately allow you to experience the most amazing adventures you could possibly imagine.
If you are a Boise resident and your child doesn't have a library card already we would like to get them signed up for one this summer. It is free and will allow your children to check out books to be read this summer during our times together. If you would rather not have a card issued your children can read one fo the many books we have here on campus or simply enjoy our reading times while on site at the different library's in town.
If you would like to get a Library Card in advance you can visit the Library's website to begin the process. Be sure to send your child's card with them if you would like them to be able to check out books on one of our trips.
We would encourage you to spend time as a family outside of the Summer Adventure Program exploring all the Library has to offer. There are so many great adventures to be had at our public libraries. (especially for kids in the summertime)
